Virginia Purvis-Smith has written a novel titled, Greenwood Riven. She will be making a presentation followed by a book signing at Big Timbers Museum on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at 7:00 p.m. Virginia spent eight years talking to people up and down the Arkansas Valley and two years in the Denver Library researching the subject matter for Greenwood Riven. This debut novel explores tensions among families and cultural groups in rural Colorado during the time of WWII. The moral and ethical questions of internment, war, and immigration are woven into the fabric of the story. The book title is taken from the Greenwood, the name of a swath of eastern counties established when Colorado became a Territory.
